This Ilocano word has two Filipino/Tagalog counterparts, one is "Kaya nga" which is used when agreeing to whatever was said by another speaker, when sharing the same idea or opinion for example. Another one is "Siya nga." The counterpart of "Kaya nga" in English, is "Exactly" or "Exactly the point" and that depends on the context while "Siya nga" would be "Indeed him/her." But when these words, isu and ngarud are used seperately, they mean something else. I'll save that though for another post. Examples are below for isu ngarud that you've probably heard yourself. Ilocano: Isu ngarud. Tagalog: Siya nga. English: It is indeed her/him. Ilocano: Isu ngarud ni (insert name). Tagalog: Siya nga si (insert name). English: She/He is indeed (insrt name). The examples below are for "Isu ngarud" as "Kaya nga" or "Exactly." (Rex to Precy) Ilocano: Tumawag ka kuma kenyak tapno nakagatangak ti kayat mo, haan ka nga rumuaren. Tagalog: Tumawag ka sana sa akin para nakabili ako ng gusto mo. hindi ka na lalabas. English: You should have called me so I could have bought whatever you like, you don't have to go out. (Mom) Ilocano: Isu ngarud. Tagalog: Kaya nga. English: Exactly. You can also read about isu ngata on my other post here. Like it? LIKE it. Helpful? SHARE it.
